Since the topic of where the elk are grazing is so common in the community, and in our office, we thought we would create an event around it to entice folks from down the hill up to see all kinds of elk! “Where are the Elk?” will partner local artists with local businesses by placing an artist’s rendering of elk at the business for display. These displays all over our community will be open to the public during the business’ hours of operation beginning the weekend of August 7. They will be available for viewing through September 6, at which time all of the artwork will be brought to the Evergreen Lake House for our annual community celebration, “Taste of Evergreen.” Mark your calendars: Taste will be held on September 9. Information on where the elk art installations will be displayed and tickets for the Taste of Evergreen will be available on the Chamber website: evergreenchamber.org

This month we also celebrated our businesses through our annual business awards night called “Sparkle & Shine… A Night With Our Stars.” Our title sponsors for the evening were: Caldwell Insurance Agency – American Family, and Restoration 1 of West Denver. This year, while we handed out four awards to local businesses, I think it is safe to say that all our businesses have been big winners navigating the uncharted waters of a pandemic. The awards presented were:

—Business of the Year: Evergreen Gallery

—New Business of the Year: Daddy’s Homemade

—People’s Choice: PandoraJohn Properties

—Young Professional of the Year: Amy Sinnock of Higher Ground Cleaning Services

We always enjoy honoring all our businesses and congratulating them on not only surviving, but thriving through the most unusual 18 months.

We are now excited to celebrate with our entire community at Taste of Evergreen. Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 9 at the Evergreen Lake House. Thank you to our title sponsor, Anderson Insurance Agency. We are excited to bring back this community favorite event. Attendees will have multiple local restaurants to choose from offering a taste of one of their special dishes, and others will be bringing a special cocktail to taste. This year, we will also have a separate category for coffee tasting. Votes for the best in each category will be cast by the attendees and awards will be presented. Music will be provided by Somebody’s Brother, starring our very own John Erlandson. Tickets are available online at evergreenchamber.org
