Housing avian neighbors, soothing infants through customized lullabies, and putting support behind youth mental health are opportunities presenting themselves in the coming weeks. They are initiatives hosted by organizations focused on creating connections and nurturing our community.

Help Make a Home for Local Birds

You can help make a home for local nesting birds and support the beneficial work of Evergreen Audubon & Nature Center.

On Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22 from 9 am-3 pm both days, Audubon volunteers will be at King Soopers grocery stores in Evergreen and Conifer selling nest boxes made by their volunteers in the fall. Flicker boxes are available for $40, bluebird boxes for $30, and chickadee boxes for $25.

The mission of Evergreen Audubon is to conserve wildlife and natural ecosystems, provide community science experiences, and inspire and educate our community to benefit all people and biodiversity. Evergreen Audubon also operates the Evergreen Nature Center.

Carnegie Hall International Lullaby Project Comes to Evergreen

In partnership with the Carnegie Hall Weill Music Institute, Evergreen Music and Performing Arts (a nonprofit partner of the Evergreen Conservatory of Music) is offering a unique opportunity for current and expectant parents and grandparents to express their hopes and dreams for their little ones through song. The Lullaby Project invites families to create, sing and record personal lullabies for their babies with the help of professional musicians from the Conservatory. The one-of-a-kind collaboration results in a composition that will become a lasting memory and will be accessible on the Lullaby Soundcloud streaming service. Select lullabies are chosen by Carnegie Hall to be featured in the institute’s annual Lullaby Project Celebration Concert.

Closer to home, on June 13 at Center Stage, the collective lullabies of our mountain community will be performed on stage with parents and little ones filling the audience.

The international Lullaby Project has fostered the creation of 4,000 lullabies in more than 40 countries. Research has shown lullabies promote overall family well-being by supporting maternal health, early child development, and parent-child bonding. They are proven to not only soothe children, but to also provide important opportunities for learning new vocabulary, figurative language, and cultural linguistics and music.
