Head of MALT to Speak at Evergreen Newcomers Event, February 3
Evergreen Newcomers and Neighbors will host a talk by Lynn Caligiuri, executive director of Mountain Area Land Trust (MALT). Her presentation on The Importance of Land Preservation and Conservation Efforts will take place from 5:30-6:30 pm at the Evergreen Christian Church, 27772 Iris Drive.
Free and open to the public, this event is part of an ENN speakers’ series spotlighting Evergreen residents addressing topics that they are knowledgeable and passionate about. The series adheres to the TEDx format with short presentations followed by questions and discussion.

Evergreen Audubon Sponsors Monthly Morning Meetups
Evergreen Audubon invites participants of all ages and birding abilities to gather the last Friday of each month for Morning Birds and Brews beginning on January 30. The meetups run from 8:30-10 am at the Evergreen Nature Center at 27640 Highway 74. After enjoying a warm beverage, attendees will head outside for fresh air and bird watching.
Evergreen Audubon will provide coffee, hot water, tea and hot cocoa packets. Attendees are asked to bring their own coffee mug or thermos, binoculars and weather-appropriate clothes. For more information on Evergreen Audubon, go to evergreenaudubon.org.
Wild Aware Announces Ongoing Outreach Activities
Wild Aware is gearing up for a busy year which will include opportunities to socialize with others who have a passion for safeguarding wildlife, and engage with volunteers who bring their talent and expertise to the organization.
The nonprofit will host an Open Aware Meet and Greet social every third Thursday of the month beginning at 6 pm at the Evergreen Brewery, 2962 Evergreen Parkway. On a monthly basis, the group sponsors Last Friday Coffee to promote volunteerism and community engagement. These gatherings take place at the Evergreen Bread and Cocktail Lounge, 1260 Bergen Parkway. Interested volunteers are encouraged to attend and learn more about opportunities to support Wild Aware within the community. Evergreen Plunge to Benefit INSPIRE Rescheduled for March 1
Given the warmer-than-anticipated weather, organizers were forced to reschedule the traditional New Year’s Day plunge into Evergreen Lake. Active4All, a nonprofit arm of the Evergreen Park & Recreation District, has chosen March 1 from 10 am-noon for this pivotal fundraiser for the EPRD INSPIRE program. INSPIRE is depending on a strong turnout to help generate funding inclusive opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Organizers invite plungers to come dressed in their wildest costumes and to bring their friends and family to join for hot drinks and treats. The event will offer heated changing rooms, separate for men and women, and food trucks onsite. EMS and Evergreen Fire/Rescue will be available to assist.
There is limited $25 VIP parking at the lake house. Parking is also available in the Lakepoint Center lot, the Keys on the Green lot, and along the downtown corridor. Carpooling is recommended.
