One of the ways I express my love for my family and friends is that I enjoy preparing a special meal. The month of December provides many opportunities to do this no matter what special day you celebrate. We are so fortunate to have so many options in our community to purchase high quality food to take home to prepare for our loved ones, or special meals being prepared at local restaurants to go out and enjoy together. Here are some “specials” being offered at many of our local vendors.

Campfire is offering a free pizza with the purchase of a $100 gift card, and Cactus Jack’s will add another $20 gift card when you purchase a $100 card. Campfire also has an option for after the new year where you buy your “All-Access NFL Pig Pick’n” ticket now for $50, which includes food and beer for the January 7 Broncos versus Raiders game.

If you need a gift for the beer lover in your life, stop by Lariat Lodge to pick up a 6 pack or a 24 pack to-go. For the wine lover in your life, Bistro Del Lago will have nightly Italian wine specials throughout the month of December, and rumor has it that Santa will be stopping in from time-to-time throughout the month.

Breakfast options include a special brunch from 9 am – 3 pm on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve at Keys on the Green, and Parkside Café has seasonal pancake flavors throughout the month. Coffee shops are also getting in on the holiday spirit! Espresso Evergreen will be adding Peppermint Bark Mocha, The Grinch Matcha and Log Cabin Cortado. Muddy Buck Coffee House is offering Pecan Pie Latte, Winter Spiced Tea and Cranberry White Mocha.

Coming up the hill late at night and needing something to grab to take home to eat? The Woodcellar offers a late-night menu Monday through Saturday until 10 pm. Lunchtime at Kiki’s Fresh Bowls offers Korean Rice Noodle Ramen with Sesame Ginger Broth to help keep us warm this winter.

If you possess cooking skills and like to entertain at home, we have two great options for purchasing high quality meats at either The Butcher’s Hook or Evergreen Cooking School. The Butcher’s Hook will be offering 40-day dry aged New York Strip steaks and sirloins. Evergreen Cooking School will have tenderloins, prime rib roasts and bone-in roasts for Christmas, and then will be bringing in oysters, shrimp and lobster for the New Year holiday.

Join the culinary team on New Year’s Eve at the Bistro at Marshdale to meet the new owners and explore dimensional and impressive food presentations paired with fine wine. Reservations available from 4:30 – 9 pm. Send off the year with a memorable dining experience in the rustic charm of their 1923 building.

Don’t miss out on the special Little Man ice cream flavors this month at Colorado Creamery. Flavors such as White Chocolate Candy Cane, Eggnog, Gingersnap and Vegan Hot Chocolate will be joining all the other favorites this month.

Wishing you a wonderful, local holiday season.
