As the seasons change and Mother Nature reminds us that the cold weather is around the corner, I think many of us welcome the change. We look forward to that favorite sweater or sweatshirt, pair of jeans, lighting the fire in the fireplace or just snuggling under a blanket with a cup of hot chocolate. Some of us will put up holiday decorations. Our local businesses will be doing all these same things to make their businesses warm and welcoming. While trick or treating will look different this year, there is still plenty of fun to be had.

Expect to see downtown Evergreen ready for a Halloween costume parade on October 31. Sign up for this event for kids of all sizes at members.evergreenchamber.org. After parading through downtown, kids will receive a bagful of goodies and treats. There will also be instruction on the “Thriller” dance! Think you have master pumpkin carving skills? Then go ahead and carve away, take a picture of your creation and post the picture to either Facebook or Instagram and tag #evergreencarvingcontest.

After Halloween, plan to visit downtown Evergreen and all the local shopping areas for more “Warm and Welcome” decorations and events as Small Business Saturday arrives on November 28, and then December will be filled with fun options in both the Bergen Village Shopping Center and downtown Evergreen. More on those next month!

So, enjoy that fireplace, snuggle up with the ones you love, but remember, we live in Colorado because it continues to be sunny and gorgeous so many days of the year for getting outside too! You don’t want to miss out on any of the great offerings right here in Evergreen.
