As I type this article, we are enjoying a glorious spring rain/snow! While I know it won’t last, every drop is like a lifeline to our forests and our properties. Evergreen Fire/Rescue is holding a series of meetings with the U.S. Forest Service to look at the status of our fire mitigation efforts and to clearly outline the next steps we must take as a community. While participating in these meetings may not be within your ability to schedule, your Evergreen Chamber has a suggestion on how to continue to support our volunteer firefighters (outside of community rain dances, of course!). We are hosting a golf ball drop in Bear Creek with 50 percent of the proceeds going to the winner of the first ball across the finish line and the other 50 percent going directly to the Evergreen Volunteer Firefighters. Balls can be purchased at 1 for $5, 5 for $20 or 35 balls for $100. We are hoping to assist the latest recruits in getting the necessary gear for wildland firefighting. Use the QR code here or simply visit evergreenchamber.org to provide necessary support to our volunteer firefighters.

The Chamber of Commerce is always looking for new ways to connect our business members to the community, and to that end, your Evergreen Chamber is currently developing a community app. This will be something you can download at no cost on your phone from the app store. The name of this app is Experience Evergreen. This app will have information on upcoming local events, contact information and hours of operation for local businesses, operation buttons to connect to local businesses, either by phone call or to their websites, and trail maps for our local parks and trails. We are excited to bring this new “All Evergreen” app to bring everything you need to your fingertips! Please join us at one of our upcoming events or connect with us on our website at evergreenchamber.org. We look forward to seeing you around town.
