Last year, your Evergreen Chamber brought you a day of whimsy and fun called “Chill Out.” This event is back and bigger than last year with the partnership of Caldwell Insurance as our Title Sponsor. To grow this event, the Chamber is partnering with Evergreen Park & Recreation to host some of the events at the Evergreen Lake House, and new this year, we have begun to spread the event out to involve other businesses in our community who also like to plan fun! Everything scheduled for Saturday, March 2 is to allow you to enjoy what our community has to offer and maybe learn a bit more about the fun that is available to us all. So, time to get off the couch, don your winter parka and come out for some fun.

What is there to do? you ask. How about ice fishing? Are you like me, where when you drive by the lake in the winter you think, Why? Well, on March 2, I am looking forward to answering that question… finally! There has got to be a reason why people sit out in the cold to catch a fish, and in most cases, release it back into the lake.

Be sure to bring your children along because the Colorado Division of Wildlife will be on hand to teach those 4 years and older how to prepare an ice fishing hole and determine if this will be an activity they will love.

After learning new skills, it is time for some fun. The Mushies Cup, sponsored by 1st Colorado Roofing, is an event where Mom or Dad pulls a child around a set course on a floatie. If you are thinking of floaties that have a T-Rex or a unicorn on them, then you are thinking correctly. Do not think that this is fun just for the young. We have an adult division as well, and I am quite certain that the adults may have had the most fun last year!

Outbound Mountain Gear likes to have fun all year long, so Mike and his staff will be organizing a Touring Ski Race on the lake enjoying the new course Evergreen Park & Rec has created. You can bring your own All Terrain skis or you can rent some at OMG for the afternoon and compete against others on this lake course.

Are you one who prefers to keep your feet on solid ground? Then how about testing your abilities at challenges all across the community in one of the three Amazing Race courses, sponsored by Blackbird Cafe. The Evergreen North course and the Downtown course will both be on foot and you can expect to walk around 2 miles to complete all the challenges. The third course, which we are calling the Original Amazing Race, will be a vehicle with four team members, one of whom is the designated driver. Each course is limited in the number of teams who participate, so sign up early.

The day will conclude with a Teen Skate and a Family Game Night inside the Lake House.

Join us for one event, the whole day or anything in between. Registrations can be found at evergreenchamber.org. We look forward to some fun!
