In the heart of spring, nature reveals its new growth, introduces us to its recent offspring and proves its ability to uplift us into a hopeful season. It follows suit that Evergreen Audubon and Mountain Area Land Trust host fundraisers during a time when we celebrate the natural beauty around us. Uplifting our neighbors who have experienced trauma speaks to the best of our nature. We can provide support to survivors of domestic violence by attending an upcoming Peaceworks, Inc. event.
Sow Your Garden with Native Plants From the Evergreen Audubon Sale
On May 31 from 10 am – noon at the Evergreen Nature Center, you can make wise plant choices while helping to raise funds for Evergreen Audubon. The nonprofit’s 5th annual Native Plant Sale promotes the use of native plants in gardens and green spaces in Evergreen and surrounding communities. Native plants are important to pollinators, birds and local wildlife, and they require less water and need little fertilizer. Plenty of deer and elk resistant plants will be for sale as well.
Organizers recommend you arrive at the start of the sale for the best selection. They ask that you bring your own box or container for carrying your plants. Proceeds benefit the Evergreen Nature Center located at 227640 CO-74 on the campus of the Church of the Transfiguration. If you are interested in volunteering at the plant sale, email Emma Vasicek at [email protected]

Evergreen Audubon’s Bash and Benefit Set for June 6
“Tails of the Wild,” the annual Bash and Benefit for Evergreen Audubon, will be held Friday, June 6, at the Evergreen Elks Lodge with doors and the bar opening at 5 pm and festivities getting underway at 6 pm. Tickets are $60 per person and include hot and cold appetizers, desserts, non-alcoholic drinks and two drink coupons for the cash bar. All proceeds benefit Evergreen Nature Center whose mission is to foster contagious enthusiasm for nature and the environment. Moneys raised will also support the Evergreen Audubon sponsored camps, youth programs, adult programs, and citizen science projects throughout the foothills.
Tails of the Wild is a casual event which will include a silent auction with dozens of interesting and unusual items including original art, gift baskets, guided bird walks, carousel rides, goat hikes, spa days and restaurant gift certificates. There will be several small raffles, and activities will include a tail trivia contest and a photo booth. New for 2025 is a tail pull (or is it a “tale” pull?). The large raffle will be for a 3-night stay in a mountainside condominium in Crested Butte. The live auction will be for a 3-night stay in a Vail property. There will also be a paddle raise to help fund nature center needs such as new, roomy custom habitats for animal ambassadors and materials for the new pollinator garden.
