Rotary Recycle Day Set for September 20

The Evergreen Rotary Club is doing its part to responsibly dispose of hard-to-recycle items during its 14th Annual Mereth Mede Recycle Day from 9 am-noon on Saturday, September 20 at the Evergreen Country Day School lot, 1036 El Rancho Road. The club will be accepting appliances, electronics, tires, mattresses, scrap metal, and household hazardous waste items in addition to plastic film (grocery bags, bubble wrap) and paper for shredding.

Conifer Chamber Hosts Volunteer Fair on September 24

An initiative to create connections between volunteers and area nonprofits is the focus of Fall into Volunteer Service on Wednesday, September 24 from 10 am-noon at Our Lady of the Pines, 9444 Eagle Cliff Road in Conifer. The Conifer Chamber’s free community event will give nonprofits the opportunity to share their mission and programming, recruit new volunteers, and network with like-minded organizations. Attendees will have the chance to become better acquainted with philanthropic outreach efforts and explore ways to give back to the community. U.S.–China Relations to Be Focus of Oct. 1 World Affairs Council Program

The Colorado Foothills World Affairs Council continues its series of free presentations on matters of international impact with “U.S. and China in a Shifting Global Order” on Wednesday, October 1 at 7 pm at Mount Vernon Canyon Club, 24933 Club House Circle.

The evening’s featured speaker is Dr. Patricia Kim, a fellow at the Brookings Institution and co-leader of the Global China Project. Dr. Kim will share insights on trade, diplomacy, and the future of U.S.–China relations. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post. The Colorado Foothills World Affairs Council is a nonprofit that promotes education and an understanding of international affairs. Its programs highlight the impact of foreign events, trends, and policies on our country and on our daily lives. Presentations are free and open to the public monthly from September through April.

Conifer Kiwanis Club Presents its Fall Fest on October 4

The family-friendly Fall Fest presented by the Conifer Kiwanis Club embraces the autumnal season with a day of kids’ activities, a full roster of live music, “punkin’ chuckin’” and “punkin’ bowling,” arts and crafts and plenty of food and drinks. It takes place from 10 am–5 pm at 8307 Settlers Drive in Morrison, just off Route 285. The event also welcomes dogs on leash so your four-legged family member can attend.
