Biography
Holly grew up in Fairfax, VA, and after also living in the coastal areas of Myrtle Beach, SC and Savannah, GA, she realized the mountains were calling. She moved to Colorado 23 years ago and although she misses the beach at times, vacations help to satisfy that. Holly has owned multiple businesses in the last 36 years, mostly in the pet industry, but nothing has been as fulfilling as overseeing things at Colorado Serenity. Holly and husband/publisher Doug enjoy working, living and playing together. Reach Holly at [email protected]

Happy Thanksgiving!

“Stop reacting to the world around you. The outer world is lifeless and mechanical, unable to sustain itself—it holds no power of its own. It is merely a mirror, reflecting with mathematical precision the state of your inner consciousness. Every...
Advice From Old People
The most important person in your life is the person who agreed to share their life with you. Treat them as such. You might live a long life, or you might live a short one—who knows. But either way, trust me when I say that you’re going to wish you took better care of...
Mental Health
I come from an era of “keeping up appearances,” where no matter what was going on, you didn’t share it with ‘outsiders’ and were mostly encouraged to figure stuff out on your own. It’s really how many of us were raised. Generations of people were conditioned to sweep...
Farewell to a Legend
The foothills community lost a local legend last month, and it was a huge blow for everyone who knew him. And an unimaginable loss for his family. Our sincere condolences go out to them and all who loved John Ellis. I met John soon after I moved to Evergreen,...
