It is hard to believe we are already talking about October. Summer always seems to fly by, and before we know it, fall will be here and our calendars will be full.
October is National Women’s Small Business Month, which gives us a great opportunity to recognize the many incredible women who own businesses, lead organizations and make a difference throughout our community.
One of the things I have really come to appreciate is just how many women are behind the businesses and organizations we interact with every day. Within the Evergreen Area Chamber of Commerce alone, we have women leading in nearly every industry from restaurants, retail, and wellness to professional services, nonprofits, real estate, finance, and so many more.
Some have owned their businesses for many years and have successfully navigated plenty of changes along the way. Others are just getting started and have taken the leap to turn an idea or passion into something of their own. We also have so many women who may not own a business but are leading teams, creating opportunities and making an impact.
Being a business owner or leader can be incredibly rewarding, but we all know it isn’t always easy. There are long days, unexpected challenges and plenty of times when you simply have to figure things out as you go. That is one of the reasons I think it is so important for women to have opportunities to connect and support one another. Sometimes a conversation, an introduction or simply hearing someone else’s story can make a difference.
On October 22, the Evergreen Area Chamber of Commerce will host our Women in Business Hall of Fame Luncheon at Mount Vernon Canyon Club. This is always a special opportunity to recognize women whose leadership, accomplishments and contributions have made a lasting impact.
But I also love that this event brings women together. It gives us a chance to connect with someone new, celebrate each other’s successes, and hear the stories of women who have helped pave the way for others.

We have so many amazing women doing great things right here in our community, and I can’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon than celebrating them.
