For those in the real estate world, the adage has been that the top three factors to consider when buying a home are location, location, location. Living in Evergreen, it’s all about community, community, community. I am fortunate enough to be a member of the current Leadership Evergreen (leadershipevergreen.org) class. At one of our first sessions, John Steinle, author of “Images of America Evergreen,” presented on the history of Evergreen. In the introduction to the book, John quotes Thomas Bergen as saying, “It seemed to be the most beautiful spot my eye ever rested upon.” My breath still catches when I come up I-70 west and drive under the overpass in Genesee looking west to all the mountain ranges, now almost 28 years after the first time I drove that road. I believe we have chosen the best location and I think it is the sense of community that keeps us here.

We have kicked off the year with a packed calendar of events for our businesses and community. On February 23 at 7:15 am, we will be hosting our first Speed Networking event of the year in conjunction with the Conifer and Golden Chambers of Commerce. Registration is on the events calendar of our Evergreen Chamber website, and will close on February 21.

Did you know that the first day of the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament has been found to be the least productive day of the year? Your Evergreen Chamber has figured out how to enjoy basketball but still grow your business that day. Join us from 1-5 pm on March 17 at The Wild Game for basketball, food, cocktails, fun games, some side betting, and LOTS of networking. This will be a great opportunity to make connections with other potential partners in our community.

Plan to join us at any of our upcoming events. The Evergreen Chamber website will have all the details for each one, and registration is available for them under the Events tab on our website. We look forward to continuing to extend our community to involve everyone.
