As I prepare to say goodbye to the Conifer community, I am filled with gratitude for the past three and a half years. It has been an honor and privilege to serve as executive director of the Conifer Area Chamber of Commerce and to work alongside so many wonderful businesses, organizations, volunteers, community leaders, and residents.
My husband and I have decided to move to southwest Colorado so we can live closer to our son. While I am excited for this next chapter, leaving Conifer is bittersweet. This community has become a very special part of my life, and I will carry the friendships and memories with me.
I am excited to share that Leah Peterson will become the new executive director of the Conifer Area Chamber of Commerce beginning September 1. I am confident Leah will bring new energy and ideas while continuing the Chamber’s commitment to supporting our local businesses and community.

Meet Leah Peterson, Our New Executive Director
Hello! I’m Leah Peterson, and I’m thrilled to be joining the Conifer Area Chamber of Commerce as its new executive director.
My husband and I have called the Conifer area home for nearly 12 years, and we’re raising our twin boys here. This is where we’ve built our life, made wonderful friends, and found a community that has supported our family in more ways than I can count. With my boys starting kindergarten this year, it felt like the perfect time for a new adventure—preferably one involving slightly fewer snacks and fewer people asking me to find their shoes!
My career has taken me through science, education, and small business. I have a master’s degree in microbiology, experience working in a clinical laboratory, and spent six years teaching high school biology. I also ran a small cottage baking business here in Conifer, giving me firsthand experience with our local business community and the incredible way this community shows up for its people and businesses.
I’m excited to bring these experiences to the Chamber, get to know our local business owners, hear their ideas and challenges, and help make the Chamber a place where businesses feel connected and supported.
Outside of work, you’ll find me at CrossFit, running the trails at Meyer Ranch or Flying J, experimenting in the kitchen, or trying to keep up with two energetic five-year-olds.
