We are all ready for some cooler weather, rain and even snow! Ready for flannels, sweaters and boots! Mountain folk aren’t meant for six months of summer heat. And so it finally begins; the cooler evenings listening to the bugling elk, the changing aspen leaves with droves of peepers, and pumpkin spice at every turn! It’s refreshing for sure! One of the reasons we love living in the foothills of Colorado is the changing seasons; a change of view, our outdoor activities and our menus.

“Every local business is targeted to benefit or support our mountain community and our lifestyle.”

There are still green leaves in some aspen groves, so we can still expect at least two weeks of city dwellers driving up the hill to soak up the view—you can thank Instagram influencers for posting all our favorite hot spots! It’s amazing how social media can provide information and entertainment while negatively impacting our lives. At least we have time to ourselves, to appreciate the changing colors and admire Mother Nature’s magic. After such a dry year, I didn’t think we would even see this much colorful change.

The bonus to our community is that we are welcoming tourists to many of our local businesses who depend on EVERYONE to keep their doors open. I know at least a couple owners who would love to see you walk through the door and treat yo’self! Every local business is targeted to benefit or support our mountain community and our lifestyle. What’s your favorite local spot? Have you been to 2 Dads Eatery in Bailey? Wow—the chicken sandwich, pizza and riverside tables are fantastic! I’m also a big fan of The Wild Rabbit Boutique in downtown Evergreen, where you can find some unique holiday gifts.

As we prepare for the holidays—yeah, we are going there—we have a plethora of activities for adults and families in October! Put these in your calendar and invite your friends.
