Our gratitude and appreciation are extended to the MindFest Leadership Team for their contribution of this month’s article. MindFest is a project sponsored and promoted by the Rotary Club of Conifer.

Conifer Rotary is a service club well-known for its strong commitment to community service along the 285 Corridor and surrounding mountain communities. Programs include the 285 Backpack Project, Literacy, Youth Activities, the Peace Park, grants and scholarships. Taking on the challenge of mental health and wellness in our community is just a natural continuation of that commitment to service.
Mental health is a critical part of the Body, Mind, Spirit Triad. Each one of these is connected to the others, and consequently disease in one influences the other two. Sadly, mental health issues continue to be stigmatized and misunderstood. It is time to talk about mental health openly, as a healthy mind is a treasure to find.
“It is time to talk about mental health openly, as a healthy mind is a treasure to find.”
Join the Conifer Rotary on February 22, from 10 am to 2 pm for the second annual “MindFest of the Foothills” and Learn “How to Live Your Best Life.” Promoting mental wellness in our community is a collective effort that requires compassion, understanding and collaboration. By raising awareness, providing education, and offering resources, we can create a more inclusive and mentally healthy environment for all community members.
This free, family friendly event will be held at Our Lady of the Pines Church at 9444 Eagle Cliff Road in Conifer. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to learn about available resources, while investing in yourself and having fun. There will be representatives from private practices and mental health organizations to talk to, speakers to learn from, and a host of hands-on activities, including experiential activities to boost your spirit.
You don’t want to miss out on this! MindFest 2024 was well received by the community and surrounding areas with over 300 in attendance. This year, our goal is to reach even more people to share in this amazing event.
Representatives this year will include: Children’s Trauma Center, Conifer Play Therapy, National Alliance of Mental Illness, Mountain Resource Center, and many others. Speakers will cover topics on caring for your spirit, Dementia, Nutrition, Burnout, and Suicide Prevention. The keynote at 10 am will be an interactive role-playing experience by Rocky Mountain Compassionate Communication Network. This organization will show us how to empower compassionate relationships, honor the integrity of every individual, and celebrate life by drawing our attention to what is precious and enduring. Other interactive experiences include dance/movement, yoga, and mindful breathing.
The importance of seeking help early cannot be overstated. The National Crisis Hotline (988) is easy to access and will be stressed throughout the event. We will also provide information about I Matter (youth counseling services) and the Colorado Crisis Line (844.493.8255).
