Medical Aesthetics, Evergreen’s premier medical spa, has succeeded for two decades by helping people look the age they feel, rather than the age on their driver’s license. People are living and working longer, and in a community like ours, that often means being active—skiing, biking, hiking, running, kayaking, climbing, and more. It’s not enough simply to be physically able to do these things; many want to also have an appearance to match. Medical Aesthetics’ true success, however, is the knowledge and skill of its professional staff that helps clients look their healthy best, not fake—without surgery and with little or no downtime.

Owner and founder Brenda Cumming started her career as a registered nurse, working in hospitals where she specialized in trauma, post anesthesia and critical care. Later, she ran the urgent care at Mountain Family Medicine in Evergreen. When she first learned about an emerging field involving chemical peels, Botox injections and spider vein therapy, she was intrigued. She thought it would be something to pursue when she retired, but decided to give it a try when Mountain Family closed.

Brenda not only learned how to skillfully do the procedures, but also how to run a business, a much different experience than working in a hospital. Eventually, she started a practice in Lakewood. With that success, and as demand for services increased in the mountain communities, she moved the business to Evergreen.

Today, Medical Aesthetics is thriving in its current location in the Bergen Village Shopping Center. Women and men no longer view this type of self-care as a luxury. Our climate is conducive to dry, sun-damaged skin, and even skin cancer. “It catches up with us,” Brenda said. “A good skin care regimen with professional products accounts for an 80 percent improvement of a person’s appearance overall, and in-office treatments can get you the rest of the way there.”

As the industry advances, Medical Aesthetics continues to add services and introduce new techniques and products. “We haven’t stopped growing for 20 years. In fact, we are busier now than ever,” Brenda said. She acknowledges her talented, hardworking staff, noting that she wouldn’t be where she is without them. Gwen Howard, LE, laser specialist and esthetician extraordinaire, has been providing excellent service to clients at Medical Aesthetics for 12 years. Team member Cindy Drew, RN, joined over two years ago as an aesthetic nurse injector. Kate Brockman, office manager, has been in the healthcare field since 2005 and joined Medical Aesthetics in 2019. Courtney Lauber, the newest team member and office admin, is a certified makeup artist and a photographer. Dr. James Hutcherson, M.D., has served as medical director and been a source of support from the spa’s beginning.

The team at Medical Aesthetics excels in providing a custom experience, advising clients on what treatments will best provide the results they seek. Popular options include injectables such as Botox, Juvederm and others; laser treatments for skin resurfacing and hair removal featuring LimeLight, ProWave, Deka CO2 and other cutting edge technologies; Virtue RF Microneedling and PRP (platelet rich plasma) additions; and PDO Threads to enhance facial contours, soften fine lines and wrinkles, and restore facial volume and definition.

Watch for “Save the Date” announcements for Medical Aesthetics 20th Anniversary Celebration in October. “We’ll have great packages, big discounts and it only happens once a year,” said Brenda. “You won’t want to miss it.”
